about

Here is something unearthed and edited from 25 years ago. Back in the teenage years, I made a lot of music with beats. Then one day I read about a musical genre called noise. No melodies, no metre, just sonic experimentation. There where no sound examples around to be heard, but the idea blew my mind.

Growing up in a small, rural and very conservative town, with the internet still in its infancy, it was sometimes hard to figure where the musical frontier lay. To know you COULD do certain things. Word just wouldn't reach us. The idea of sound just for the sake of sound seemed very appealing, and with the typical enthousiasm of a 16 year old I embarked on a month of very happy sonic experimentation.

Afterwards, the work was distributed on tape (as always) to whoever was around in the school yard and interested, the experiment was talked about for some time and then shelved and almost forgotten. I returned to the dancable music of before and didn't give the genre much thought until well over a decade later.

So here is that tape, warts and all. Or better, the B-side, which is an album in itself. The A-side will appear is available seperately.

As for the kids in that school yard, the music has been described as everything ranging from 'brilliant' to 'a god awful load of satanic noise'.

Anything on that scale will do nicely.
