about

'Sleep in Heavenly Peace' is the single for the upcoming album 'The Bad News Phone Call on Christmas Eve', a Requiem for my aunt and an impression of the most recent Christmas weekend, in which she died and we received the call.

This single (and the album) uses a weighted random tone generator built in Max/MSP, field recordings of the weekend in which it happened, tape noises and surface noises taken from records by artists who died the same weekend.

The piece Sleep in Heavenly Peace itself is featured in several versions (or runs). The work 'Oscar's Funeral Dub' (A dub of 'Oscar's Funeral Dirge', featured on the forthcoming album) is built from crackles and scratches taken from second-hand Oscar Peterson records.

Released via Prone to Resonance, PTR001.
